The Onboarding Journey at MJP Online Property Lawyers: What you need to know
Thanks to Daisy-Mai Powley MJP Conveyancing Onbording Executive for this informative blog
Starting a property transaction, especially for a first-time buyer can be a complex and overwhelming experience.
That’s why, at MJP we have a streamlined, clear and transparent onboarding process for our clients.
Our goal is to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible, whilst also ensuring our clients are informed and feel confident every step of the way. In this blog, I will walk you through the key steps of our client onboarding process, explaining what to expect and what is involved.
1. Getting in Touch- The Initial Phone Call
The first step in your conveyancing journey is to reach out to a solicitor or conveyancer. During this initial contact, whether this is via our website or over the phone, we will ask you to provide some basic details about your transaction.
We will ask questions regarding the property itself and (if purchasing) how you plan to finance this. This includes any gifted monies you may have received and whether you hold any overseas funds or cryptocurrency. It is important that we understand this at an early stage.
Once we have asked our questions, this is a chance for you to ask any preliminary questions you may have about the process, timelines, fees and what documents you may need. We will provide you with an overview of what to expect and ensure that we are the right fit for you.
2. The Quote- Detailed Breakdown of Costs
After you have provided the necessary details, we will email you a quote which will give you an accurate estimate of the costs involved in handling your case. Your quote will include a clear, itemised breakdown of our fees, which will typically include:
Legal fees: The costs of the legal services provided by us.
Disbursements: These are out-of-pocket costs such as search fees, title registry fees and costs relating to obtaining documents. These can vary depending on the property.
Our aim is to provide fully transparent quotes, without any hidden fees. We take the time to fully assess your specific transaction and circumstances before providing a quote, so you can trust that the price we give you is as accurate as possible. If we feel there may be requirements for additional costs or we encounter unforeseen complexities, we will make you aware of this promptly to help avoid any unexpected charges later on and give you peace of mind throughout the process.
Included on our quote email will also be additional information to keep you informed. For example, information about deposits, what work we cannot deal with, our reviews and how to instruct us.
3. Instruction – How to get Started
Once you have decided you are ready to move forward your conveyancing process, simply click the ‘Instruct Now’ button that will be below your quote. This will direct you to a questionnaire where we will ask for some basic information about you and your property transaction, such as your personal details, the property in question, including location and any relevant information. This helps us understand your needs and enables us to set a file up for you on our online journal, ensuring we can tailor our services to suit your transaction.
Once the questionnaire has been completed, you will then be able to log into your own online journal! You will have lifetime access to this journal, even after the transaction has completed, at no extra charge.
4. Completing your onboarding- CCA Agreement, ID Verification and Deposit payment
To wrap up the onboarding process and begin your conveyancing journey with us, there are a few final steps to complete. First you will be required to review and agree to the Client Care Agreement (CCA), which outlines the terms of our services and ensures that both parties are on the same page regarding expectations, responsibilities and fees.
Next, we will conduct our ID verification to comply with legal requirements and ensure that your identity is authenticated for the transaction. As we are an online service, we complete this using an independent app. You will receive a text message invite to download the app, and complete the instructions as directed. Its as simple as that!
Lastly, we will request a deposit payment to secure our services and begin working on your case. These can be paid either over the phone with the accounts team, or on our online journal on the ‘payments’ tab.
